The following pages are dedicated to the brave men who set sail as members of the United States Navy submarine force in World War II. The heroic efforts of American submarines during the war in the Pacific is frequently overlooked and quite often sadly understated. Military historians fully agree that the submarine campaign recorded positive results disproportionate to its size and numbers. The contribution made by submarine service ultimately helped to bring about a much swifter, and victorious conclusion to the war with Japan. This chapter of the naval conflict did not, however, come without its' share of tragic losses. Through these pages I look to pay tribute and respect to the heroic efforts of the U.S. Silent Service in WWII by providing the records and details of what I feel to be an incredibly fascinating element of the naval war in the Pacific.
